SECTION 15 – COMPLETE GEARBOX CAPABILITIES

Arrow’s commitment to growth and expansion has led to the capability for producing compete gearboxes for the aerospace industry.

We are equipped for the demanding requirements of assembly and testing of these gearboxes – in-house – at our main plant.

We have produced complete gearboxes for the F22, Joint Strike Fighter and commercial aircraft programs - …as well as wing flap gearboxes for the entire fleet of B52s.

SECTION 16 – MASTER GEAR CAPABILITY

Arrow’s expertise isn’t limited to production gearing. We produce master gearsets for some of the world’s most demanding manufacturers of aircraft jet engines. And these gearsets can be used as a standard for production gearing anywhere in the world.

SECTION 17 – ISOTROPIC SUPERFINISHING

The surface finish of gear teeth is directly related to the service life and overall quality. For this reason, Arrow offers the capability of Isotropic Superfinishing.

To achieve an optimal surface finish on gear teeth, grinding of the gear teeth has historically been the chosen manufacturing process.

However, as the demands of precision gearing have become more advanced, the process of isotropic superfinishing is becoming a more common specification.

With tooth grinding, the resulting tooth finish is typically 16 RA. With the superfinishing process, surface finish can be reduced to as little as 4 RA. This substantial reduction has a direct benefit on the life of the gear. In fact, according to NASA, this type of surface finish reduction can increase the life of the gear up to 300% through the reduction of friction and increased pitting resistance.

SECTION 18 – FINAL INSPECTION

When all machining is complete, the parts are sent to Final Inspection. Here all physical characteristics are checked to make sure they meet blueprint requirements.

Jobs that pass inspection are OK’d – and then they’re on their way to the customer - off to meet the power transmission demands of high precision systems all over the world.
