Program: Arrow Gear – Committed to Being the Best

SECTION 11 – OD, ID AND THREAD GRINDING

After heat treating, parts move on to our Grinding Department for external, internal and thread grinding operations.

With our CNC grinders, multiple grinding operations can be performed on the part without taking it out of the machine or changing the set-up.

Because ground surfaces are often used for the mounting of bearings, oil seals and drive shafts, Arrow’s Grinding Department routinely works within tolerances of two-ten-thousandths of an inch – or 5 micrometers.

SECTION 12 – INERTIA WELDING

Some parts, due to their specialized design, require Inertia Welding operations.

The process produces a welded assembly which is strong, reliable and more affordable, as compared to electron beam welding methods.

SECTION 13 – NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTS

All of Arrow’s tooth ground parts are subjected to non-destructive tests to ensure total quality.

Surface Temper Inspection is performed by certified personnel to check for grinding burns and rehardening.

Magnetic Particle Inspection is also performed by our certified inspectors to detect surface or sub-surface cracks.

SECTION 14 – COMPUTER INTEGRATION

A key challenge in the gear manufacturing environment is the management of information systems for both administration and production. To meet this challenge, Arrow has implemented extensive computer integration.

From shop floor reporting by machine operators, to Quality Assurance, and Management Reports, information on Arrow’s entire operation can be accessed in real time – for maximum efficiency.
